notes for FIU
COOKEVILLE, Tenn – The Tennessee Tech women's basketball
team continues its homestand on Monday as it hosts Florida
International at 7 p.m. CT in Eblen Center.
The Golden Eagles (3-6) are looking to bounce back from a 78-76 double-overtime loss to in-state foe Memphis on Saturday night. The victory by the visitors overshadowed a couple of tremendous efforts by Golden Eagle players. Senior Diamond Henderson led Tech with 25 points, while junior Candace Parson posted career-highs of 14 points and 14 rebounds. Molly Heady also scored 14 points, while sophomore T'Keyah Williams added seven points and 11 rebounds.
FIU is coming into town with a 2-5 record, coming off its second win of the season, a 77-52 home win a week ago against Prairie View A&M. The Panthers first win of the season came against a mutual opponent of Tech, Valparaiso. FIU is led by senior guard Jessica Coley who is averaging 25.9 points per game and 5.9 rebounds, and is also leading the team with 35 assists on the season.
The last time these two squads faced off was in the 1991-92 season at the Pepsi-Church's Holiday Classic in Miami, Fla. The game went in favor of the Panthers, 90-88 in overtime.
