Henderson, Brewer pick up Player and Newcomer of the week from the OVC

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech's Diamond Henderson and Kayla Brewer earned adidas® Ohio Valley Conference Player and Newcomer of the Week honors, respectively, following their performances versus Memphis and Florida International. The award is voted on by the conference Sports Information Directors.

Henderson, the 5-foot-6 junior guard from Kennesaw, Ga. led all players with 25 points in a 78-76 double overtime loss to Memphis. She added four rebounds, three steals and two assists. It marked Henderson's sixth 20-plus point game this year. In the loss to FIU, She scored 13 points to go with three rebounds and three assists. She has now scored in double-digits in nine games this season.

Brewer, a 6-foot-2 graduate student who transferred from Texas, started both games for the Golden Eagles last week, averaging 6.5 points and 4.5 rebounds. In only 12 minutes of action against Memphis, Brewer hit a pair of free throws down the stretch to help the Golden Eagles force the first overtime. She finished with four points, six rebounds and two blocks. She scored nine points to go with three rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block versus FIU. She finished the week shooting 83.3 percent from the floor and 75.0 percent from the line.

The OVC Freshman of the Week was won by Nikia Edom from Murray State.

The Tennessee Tech women's basketball team hits the road for the final time in 2013, heading to Arkansas State and Arkansas. The Golden Eagles challenge the RedWolves in Jonesboro on Wednesday at noon CT, then head to Fayetteville to take on the Razorbacks at 7 p.m. on Friday.
