SPECIAL EVENTS: Tech hosts promotions Thursday and Saturday night

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Several special promotions are planned this week when Tennessee Tech hosts Ohio Valley Conference basketball games in Eblen Center Thursday and Saturday, including a bevy of money-saving deals for fans of all ages.

Promotions are planned that offer discount admission for residents of Putnam, Cumberland and White counties, people who work in the education field, and youngsters who participate in youth basketball leagues and their families.

The Golden Eagle men host Eastern Illinois on Thursday night (7 p.m.), and on Saturday Tech hosts a crucial doubleheader against SIU Edwardsville, with the women's teams getting action underway at 5:30 p.m.

Thursday night's game will be the second Putnam County Night in Eblen Center, offering residents of Putnam County the chance to purchase tickets for just one dollar each. The first Putnam County Night, which took place in December at a women's game, resulted in nearly one-fourth of the crowd taking advantage of the discount.

The same one dollar offer is set for Saturday's games for residents of two neighboring counties, when Tech hosts White County and Cumberland County Night.

Fans simply need to take advantage of the discounted one dollar admission at the ticket office when they get to the games.

Another large group being offered a special discount for Saturday's games is the youth basketball players and coaches in the area, including Vision and Upward, along with the Putnam County Youth Basketball league. All participating boys and girls and their team coaches can receive free admission to the doubleheader simply by wearing their team shirt. In addition, those youth basketball players can also purchase tickets for their entire family for only one dollar each. The discount tickets will be available at the Ticket Office in Eblen Center at the game Saturday.

Finally, persons in the region who work in education (teachers, administrators) have been invited by the university for the annual P-16 Night, as guests of TTU President Dr. Phil Oldham. For additional infomormation on P-16 Night, please contact Debbie Combs in the President's Office at (931) 372-3241.
