COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- It’s time to show your support for
Awesome Eagle! Delta Dental of Tennessee and the Ohio Valley
Conference present the 2014 Mascot Challenge as fans, students,
faculty and alumni can vote for their favorite OVC Mascot between
Friday, Feb. 21, and Thursday, March 6.
You can vote once a day for Awesome Eagle at www.OVCMascotChallenge.com
There are 12 OVC Mascots included in the competition. Murray
State's Dunker won last year's Mascot Challenge, receiving more
than 6,000 votes.
"OVC schools are known for their fierce competition on and off the
courts and fields. This contest presents a great opportunity to
allow our fans to choose their favorite mascot," said Beth
DeBauche, OVC Commissioner. "We know our OVC students, faculty,
alumni and fans have great pride in their schools and will enjoy
trying to earn the bragging rights for earning the most votes for
the best mascot in the Conference. We salute Delta Dental of
Tennessee for supporting the OVC and being a good partner in our
communities."
The competing OVC Mascots are: Austin Peay – The Governor,
Belmont – Bruiser the Bruin, Eastern Illinois – Billy
the Panther, Eastern Kentucky – The Colonel, Jacksonville
State – Cocky, Morehead State – Beaker, Murray State
– Dunker, Southeast Missouri – Rowdy, SIUE –
Eddie the Cougar, Tennessee State – Aristocat, Tennessee Tech
– Awesome Eagle, UT Martin – Captain.
Voting begins at 12:01 a.m. on Feb. 21 and concludes at 12 p.m. on
March 6, 2014. The Mascot with the most votes will earn "bragging
rights" and their school will be awarded $1000 for the general
scholarship fund. The winner of the 2014 OVC Mascot Challenge will
be announced on March 7 at the OVC Tournament in Nashville.
