Hannah Goolsby earns OVC Freshman of the Week honors

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech's Hannah Goolsby earned adidas® Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Week honors Tuesday for her game-winning role in the Golden Eagle victory over Valparaiso on Sunday. The award is voted on by conference Sports Information Directors.

The 5-foot-9 Cookeville native made her first two collegiate starts last week. Against Mississippi State, she recorded six points and two assists in just 18 minutes of play. She then recorded a career-high 21 points to go with five rebounds, three assist and two steals versus Valparaiso. Goolsby hit two clutch free throws with 37 seconds left that put Tech ahead, 79-78. She also hit a pair of free throws that sealed the win against the Crusaders, after making a steal at midcourt to stop Valparaiso's comeback try.

The OVC Player of the Week award was given to Heather Butler of UT Martin and Newcomer of the Week went to Arnisha Thomas of Eastern Illinois.

The Golden Eagles are in action at the South Point Thanksgiving Shootout in Las Vegas this weekend as they take on Marquette on Friday at 4:30 p.m. CT and Ball State on Saturday at 2 p.m.
