Trip to Muscles Shoals, OVC Championships awaits Tech men's golf team

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech men's golf team kicks off its hunt for an Ohio Valley Conference title Sunday, beginning four days of action at Fighting Joe Course at The Shoals on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail in Muscle Shoals, Ala. The Golden Eagles will compete in 54 holes of stroke play Sunday through Tuesday. The top four teams move on to match play on Wednesday to determine the OVC Champion and bid to the NCAA Championships. 

OVC CHAMPIONSHIPS: Apr. 21-24, 2024 – 54 holes stroke-play (18 Sunday, 18 Monday, 18 Tuesday), 18 holes match-play (top four teams on Wednesday), located at the par-72, 7,147-yard Fighting Joe Course at The Shoals on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail in Muscle Shoals, Ala. Play will begin with round one Monday morning with tee times starting at 8:00 a.m.CT.

GOLDEN EAGLE LINEUP: Competing for the Golden Eagles are sophomore Anders Larson, senior Mark McDearman, junior Jackson Skeen, sophomore Haden Maxwell, and senior Sean Anderson. Available as a substitute during the tournament is freshman Alex Broyles.

THE COMPETITION: The 11-team field consists of Chicago State, Eastern Illinois, Lindenwood, Little Rock, Morehead State, SIUE, Southern Indiana, Tennessee State, Tennessee Tech, UT Martin, and Western Illinois.

THOUGHTS FROM HEAD COACH POLK BROWN: "It's been quite the ride for the guys this year, but I believe our team is playing some very good golf at the right time with conference championships on the horizon. The Shoals is a great test of golf and I know these young men are ready to compete. We're excited for the opportunity that lies ahead for us."
