SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Tennessee Tech men's golf team turned in its best round of play on Tuesday at The Carolina Cup, as the Golden Eagles finished off action at the Carolina Club in Spartanburg, S.C.

The purple and gold turned in a 305 for the day, totaling 928 to jump past Lafayette and finish 14th overall. Kennesaw State made a leap of its own to the top of the leaderboard to win the event with a score of 878. UAB's Seb Cave moved to the peak of the individual rankings, earning medalist honors with a 4-under 212.

For the Golden Eagles, it was savvy veteran Jackson Skeen leading the way with a 226. The junior tied for 36th among 83 golfers after tallying a third-round 75 with two birdies.

Just one shot back of his fellow All-Ohio Valley Conference Team member was Anders Larson, rounding out the week with a 227. The sophomore carded a pair of birdies as well on his way to a 76 and a tie for 40th.

Fellow sophomore Haden Maxwell delivered the top round of the tournament for the purple and gold, erupting for a 1-under 71 on the day. He finished off the weekend with five more birdies as part of a tie for 56th with a 233.

Senior Mark McDearman was next among the Golden Eagle participants on the charts, coming in with a 253 after a round of 83. Completing the Tech lineup with a 97 on the day and 277 for the tournament was junior Avery Irwin.

The Golden Eagles head back out to the links again next week, this time making a trip north to Cincinnati for the Xaiver Fall Invitational. Play will take place at the Maketewah Country Club Monday, Oct. 16 through Tuesday, Oct. 17.
