Consistency is key for Tech through two rounds at the Peoples Golf Championship

ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – The Tennessee Tech men's golf team showed its consistency on day two of the Peoples Golf Championship Friday afternoon, concluding the second round of play at Sea Palms Resort in St. Simons Island, Ga.

After firing a 288 in Thursday's first round, the Golden Eagles turned in a 289 in their second trip around the course, totaling 577 to rank seventh among the 22 teams in competition. Davidson paced the field by 13 shots, finishing with a 273 for a two-day total of 547. 

Jackson Skeen continued to lead the way for the purple and gold, backing up his 67 from day one with a 74 in round two. Tied for 12th overall among 128 golfers with a 141, he turned in three birdies and nine pars.

Senior Sean Anderson delivered the top marks on the day for the Cookeville crew, ripping off a 2-under 69 to move into a tie for 25th with a total of 143. The Golden Eagle veteran racked up four birdies and 12 pars for his effort. 

Contributing to the effort with 1-over 72 on the day was sophomore Anders Larson, climbing up to a tie for 46th with a two-day score of 146. He tacked on a pair of birdies and 11 pars to go along with an eagle on the par-5 fourth hole. 

Senior Mark McDearman carded a 74 behind a pair of birdies and 11 pars, moving into a tie for 52nd with a composite score of 147. Rounding out the Tech lineup, Haden Maxwell bounced back from an 83 in the opening round to put forth a 74 as well, tallying four birdies and eight pars for a total of 157.

The third and final round of the Peoples Golf Championship will kick off at 7:00 a.m. CT Friday morning with split tee times.
