ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – Due to inclement weather, including rain, in the St. Simons Island, Ga. area, the third and final round of the Peoples Golf Championship at Sea Palms Resort was officially cancelled Saturday afternoon.
The Tennessee Tech men's golf team officially finished seventh in the 22-team field, logging rounds of 288 and 289 for a total of 577. Davidson took home the tournament crown with a 13-stroke victory backed by a score of 547. Wright State's Shane Ochs claimed individual medalist honors behind rounds of 65 and 68 for a 9-under 133.
Jackson Skeen led the purple and gold behind a 67-74=141, tying for 12th overall among 128 golfers. Sean Anderson was close behind, tallying a 143 behind rounds of 74 and 69 to tie for 25th.
Tying for 46th after carding rounds of 74 and 72 for a 146 was sophomore Anders Larson. He was followed closely by senior Mark McDearman, who tied for 52nd after delivering scores of 73 and 74 for a 147.
Rounding out the Tech lineup, Haden Maxwell shot a 157 after turning in a first-round 83 and second-round 74.
The Golden Eagles will compete next in Sevierville, Tenn., playing host to the 11th annual Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate at Sevierville Golf Club from Sunday, Mar. 17 to Tuesday, Mar. 19.
