BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – For the second time in his young career, Tennessee Tech's Hayden Maxwell was honored as the Ohio Valley Conference's Male Golfer of the Week, as announced by the league Thursday afternoon.

The Golden Eagle sophomore captured his first career individual medalist honors at the 11th Annual Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate, becoming the first Tech men's golfer to win its yearly tournament in Sevierville, Tenn. His performance led the purple and gold to a fourth-place showing among 15 teams in the field.

The Soddy Daisy, Tenn. native opened the tournament with a 2-over 73 before ratcheting things up in round two with a 1-under 70. On Tuesday, he buried an eight-foot putt for a birdie to win the event outright after entering the hole tied for first.

His clutch putt provided him with an even-par 71, one that featured two birdies and a whopping 14 pars. His 214 for the week marked a career-best score across 54 holes as well.

Next on the docket for the Golden Eagles is the Carpenter-Chaney Classic, running from Monday, Apr. 1 through Tuesday, Apr. 2. The match play event will take place at Paducah Country Club in Mims, Fla.
