COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech men's golf head coach Polk Brown announced the addition of a pair of transfers for the 2024-25 athletic season, signing Owen Bright and Matthew Shull to round out the Golden Eagle roster.
"We are very excited to add Owen and Matthew to our roster this fall," Brown expressed. "I think their previous college experience will be valuable assets to our team, as we will be much younger this year than the last several season. I look forward to seeing what they will bring to our program over the next several years."
OWEN BRIGHT
Hometown: Roanoke, Va.
Previous School: Emory & Henry College
Bright comes to Tech after spending his freshman campaign at Emory & Henry College in Emory, Va. The newcomer competed in two events as a rookie, completing five rounds. Backed by a season-best round of 74, he tied for sixth at the Fincastle/Glenrochie Challenge in early March.
Prior to his first collegiate season, Bright wrapped up an impressive career at Cave Spring High School in Roanoke, Va. An All-State selection as a senior, the two-time team captain earned a pair of All-Region First Team honors and three All-District First Team accolades during his career.
Behind two tournament victories, he was named District Player of the Year as a freshman. He captured two more tournament wins during his high school career. A two-sport athlete at CSHS, Bright also served as team captain in his one season as a member of the tennis squad.

Shull makes his way to Cookeville following his freshman season competing at Grace College in Winona Lake, Ind. Before his collegiate journey, Shull earned three letters in golf at Westfield High School in Westfield, Ind., losing his freshman season to the ramifications of COVID-19. He helped lead his team to back-to-back runner-up showings at the state championships, as well as two conference titles, one sectional crown, and one regional championship.
During his high school career, he claimed a top-10 finish in every tournament, compiling seven runner-up performances. Shull was named All-Conference as a junior and a senior, and earned the team's Excellence of Hard Work Award.
