COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech women’s basketball team hosted its annual Welcome Back Picnic for the 2010-11 basketball season Thursday evening on the Tech campus.
“This was an opportunity for our fans to come out and see us and our newcomers,” head coach Sytia Messer said. “We had a great turnout and our players were real excited.”
The women’s basketball players, their parents, the
coaching staff and fans gathered together for a picnic dinner and
to discuss the upcoming season. Fans and boosters were given the
opportunity to meet the players and to get to know them.
The event began with a meet-and-greet, followed by a picnic
dinner of sandwiches and chips, followed by a few comments from
Messer. The event concluded with a raffle drawing in which people
could win numerous items including team autographed
basketballs.
“We finished last season fourth in the conference and we
were picked to finish eighth at the start,” Messer told the
gathering. “We are not satisfied yet as our main goal is to
win the OVC championship.”
