Players to also participate in YMCA event on
Saturday, April 16
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - Members of the Tennessee Tech women's
basketball team dropped by Prescott Elementary School Tuesday
during the lunch hour to meet with several honor students and help
recognize them for their classroom success. The Golden Eagles had a
chance to chat with some of their youngest fans in the Cookeville
area.
Their appearance at the Cookeville school was the latest in the
team's participation in a variety of community service projects and
outreach as part of the Athletics Department's commitment to the
NCAA CHAMPS/Life Skills program. All of Tech's teams participate
through a broad range of community activities such as working with
Habitat for Humanity and other volunteer organizations.
The Golden Eagle women's basketball team recently completed its
most successful season in several years, posting a 23-8 overall
record and capturing the Ohio Valley Conference regular season
championship.
Coming up in a couple weeks, the Golden Eagles will be at the
Putnam County YMCA Healthy Kids Day on Saturday, April 16. Members
of the squad will be on hand from 10 a.m. to noon at the event to
be held on the Main Quad of the TTU campus. Filled with fun,
engaging and creative activities that foster healthy living, the
event will part of the YMCA's focus and nationwide efforts to help
more kids and families become physically active and stay
healthy.
