Basketball season ticket sales in high gear with opener looming

Basketball season ticket sales in high gear with opener looming

Season tickets offer savings from $39 to $70 per ticket

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – With just two weeks remaining before the season-opening doubleheader in Eblen Center, Tennessee Tech Athletics has shifted into high gear with its 2010-11 basketball season ticket sales.

The home schedule features 31 home games, and that has fans excited, according to Mark Wilson, TTU Director of Athletics.

“Our fans are not only excited about the start of a new basketball season, but they really like the home schedules and how many opportunities they will have to come out and watch the women’s and men’s teams in Eblen Center,” Wilson said.

“Our coaches did a great job in developing their schedules, and both our fans and our student-athletes are looking forward to playing that many games at home,” he said.  “We think the outlook is outstanding for both teams, there’s a lot of enthusiasm and the attitude is really contagious, and it’s showing up in our ticket sales.”

The home season gets underway on Thursday, Nov. 4, with a doubleheader of exhibition games. The women tip things off at 5:30 p.m. by hosting Bryan College. The men’s team hosts Carson-Newman College in the second game of the evening.

The first regular season home games come in mid-November. Coach Sytia Messer’s squad hosts Alabama A&M on Monday, Nov. 15, at 7 p.m. A week later, coach Mike Sutton’s men’s team hosts Appalachian State on Tuesday, Nov. 23, with a 7 p.m. tipoff.

The women host a total of 14 home games while the men’s team is on its home floor for 17 games.

Renewal information has been sent to all past Golden Eagle Basketball season ticket holders, while applications for ordering season and individual game tickets have been distributed for potential new ticket purchases.

An adult season ticket, which admits the holder to all 31 games on 19 dates, is on sale for $120. Youth and senior season tickets are $75 each.

A single-game ticket is $10 for adults and $6 for youth and seniors. That makes a season ticket a money-saving option.  For an adult season ticket holder, the savings for the entire season is $70 per ticket, while a youth or senior season ticket represents a $39 savings per ticket.

Fans have two additional options for season tickets, including a Family Plan and the Business Plan.

A Family Plan includes tickets for two adults and three youth for $335, a price that is less than half of what individual game tickets would cost.

The Business Plan includes 10 tickets to each of the 14 home games in November and December (10 different dates) for $200. The same number of individual game tickets for that package would cost as much as $1,000.

“There’s no question that the Family Plan and the Business Plan are the best deals we offer,” said Sandy Zimmerman, Athletics Ticket Office Manager.

“We’ve seen an increase in our ticket sales over the past few days,” she added. “With the season getting closer, we’re hearing more and more talk about the start of the basketball season, and it’s showing up in additional ticket sales, including a lot of brand new ticket holders.”

The Tech ticket office also has OVC Tournament tickets on sale at a discounted price.  With the entire conference tournament moving to Nashville, the tournament ticket includes entry to every session for the event, March 2-5, at the Nashville Municipal Auditorium.

Fans who purchase an OVC Tournament Ticket from the TTU ticket office before Jan. 1, can get the entire tournament package for just $60 each.

To order tickets or for additional information, visit or call the Athletics Ticket Office in Eblen Center. The office is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to noon, and from 1 to 4:30 p.m. The phone number is (931) 372-3940.
