Weekly Game Notes

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Because of the cancellation of the Appalachian State BracketBuster rematch on November 23, the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles found room for another home game on their schedule before the holidays.

Tech will host Hiwassee College out of Madisonville, Tenn., this Thursday at 7 p.m. at near-by Livingston Academy, home to TTU freshman guard Chase Dunn, who holds the L.A. career scoring record. Although the game will be considered a home game for Tech, it cannot be played in Eblen Center due to December commencement set-up.

A redshirt for the Golden Eagles last season, Dunn averaged 22 points and four assists per game at Livingston, finishing his career with 2.508 points. Thus far during his campaign season at Tech, he is averaging 5.7 points per game at 12.7 minutes played per contest. He ranks second on the team in 3-pointers made and steals, and third in free throw percentage.

"This is going to be an exciting night for Chase, and a great opportunity for our team and our fans in the region," coach Mike Sutton said. "Chase gets to go home and play in front of the fans who followed his tremendous high school career. Our players are excited about an opportunity to play another game close to home and possibly attract some fans who may have never seen a Golden Eagle basketball game."

This being only the second year in which Hiwassee, a member of the United States College Athletic Association (USCAA),  has competed against four-year institutions, the game will mark the first match-up between the two opponents, who currently own identical 2-5 records. Hiwassee has lost five of their past six games, including a 95-75 loss to the Eagles of Carson-Newman. Tech took the 95-46 win against CNM in their exhibition game this year. The Tigers are currently looking to break a two-game losing streak.

Tech is also looking for their first win in two games, having recently fallen to High Point and Libscomb in Eblen Center.

All of Tennessee Tech's basketball season tickets will be honored at the game in Livingston, and Tech students will be admitted free with a valid TTU ID.

All seating will be general admission, with tickets priced at $5 per person. Tickets will be available in advance at the Athletics Ticket Office in Eblen Center or online at TTUsports.com.

Tickets are also on sale in advance at Livingston Academy, and Thursday night at the game. Doors will open at 6 p.m.

Fans holding tickets to the Appalachian State game may trade those tickets in and receive two tickets to the Hiwassee game in Livingston. For additional information on tickets, please call the Athletics Ticket Office at (931) 372-3940.
