Coach Sutton recognized for his perseverence on the sidelines

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Tech men's basketball head coach Mike Sutton was recently mentioned by Jeff Goodman, senior college basketball writer for FOXSports.com, for his tenacity in recovering from Guillian-Barre Syndrome.

The ninth year head coach recently missed a weekend road trip to Kentucky, where his Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles would take on Morehead State and Eastern Kentucky, as he was dealing with health issues stemming from the after-effects of GBS. His stint away from his team, however, was short-lived, as Sutton again displayed the determination to be back on the sidelines that he has for the past five years of his recovery.

Just a few days ago, Goodman, one of college basketball's respected writers, published a piece on Sutton and the Golden Eagles after their last-second victory over the OVC's top-ranked Governors of Austin Peay on FoxSports' Yardbarker blogspot. Tech took the win on a 3-point shot by junior guard Zac Swansey, which was named the no. 1 play of the day by ESPN's SportsCenter.
