COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech women's basketball team will look to continue its fortunes as it travels to Des Moines to take on the Drake Bulldogs Saturday afternoon.
With temperatures slated to be as low as two degrees, the
Golden Eagles will look to heat things up as they strive for their
first ever win against an Iowa school. Tech is 0-1 against Drake
with their only meeting coming in the 2008-09 season, which saw the
Bulldogs take the 69-58 decision at Eblen Center.
"Drake is very disciplined on offense and work the ball around
well to get great shots," head coach Sytia Messer said. "We will
need to read Drakes' different screens to disrupt their
flow."
Drake enters the game the owner of a 5-2 record with a game
slated against Wisconsin Thursday before taking on Tech
Saturday.
Tech heads to Des Moines after absorbing a 77-53 loss to No.
14 Kentucky on Tuesday. Junior guard Tacarra Hayes and
sophomore forward Kylie Cook each netted
13 points, while freshman guard Keisha Moore added a
season-high 12 points.
"We need to be more disciplined on defense and box out more,"
Messer said. "We'll also need to make the shots we need to
make."
Opening tip between the Golden Eagles and the Bulldogs is set
for 2:05 p.m.
