COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – As the only team in the Ohio Valley Conference that has not absorbed a conference loss on the season, Tennessee Tech will look to improve to 4-0 in OVC play for the first time since the 2004-05 season as it squares off with Morehead State Thursday. This will the first of a two-game road trip to Kentucky, followed by a game Saturday, at Eastern Kentucky.
This will be the 71st meeting between the Golden Eagles and
the Eagles with Tech owning the series edge, 52-18. Morehead State
has controlled the series of late, however, as it has won six of
the last eight contests and has not lost in Morehead since the
2005-06 season.
Tech (9-3, 3-0 OVC) recently improved to 9-3 with a 71-63 win
over St. Louis in non-conference play Sunday afternoon. Junior
guard Tacarra
Hayes and freshman forward Molly Heady led the
Golden Eagle offense with 19 points each. Tech has won four of its
last five contests including a pair of conference victories against
Eastern Illinois and Southeast Missouri.
Morehead State currently owns a 10-4 record and has won seven
of its last eight games. In conference play, Morehead State is 3-1
with wins against Murray State, UT Martin and Tennessee State. The
Eagles lone conference loss came at Austin Peay.
Morehead State head coach Tom Hodges is no stranger to
Tennessee Tech as he served as a student assistant coach under head
coach Bill Worrell from 2000-02.
Opening tip between the Golden Eagles and Morehead State is
set for 4:15 p.m. CT in Morehead's Ellis T. Johnson Arena.
