OVC leading Golden Eagles begin third leg of road trip against Eastern Illinois

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Looking for its eighth road win of the season, the first-place Tennessee Tech women's basketball team squares off with the Eastern Illinois Panthers Thursday.

This will be the 34th meeting between the Golden Eagles and the Panthers, with TTU owning the series edge at 21-12. In their previous meeting this season, Tech snapped its nine-game losing streak to EIU as it defeated the Panthers 65-58 at Eblen Center (12/19).
Junior guard Tacarra Hayes and junior center Brittany Darling each recorded a double-double against Eastern Illinois earlier this season. Hayes tallied a team-high 19 points along with 10 rebounds, while Darling notched 14 points and 14 rebounds.
 
Tech (14-4, 8-1 OVC) recently won its eighth OVC contest of the season with a 69-55 victory over Tennessee State on Saturday. Four Golden Eagles reached double-digits in points with Hayes leading the way with 14.
 
Eastern Illinois is 9-10 on the season and presently sits in fifth place in the OVC with a 5-4 conference record. The Panthers are on a three-game skid including losses to Morehead State, Murray State and UT Martin.
 
Opening tip between the Golden Eagles and the Panthers is set for 5:30 p.m., at the Lantz Arena in Charleston, Ill.
