COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech junior center Brittany Darling has been voted the Ohio Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week, for her efforts last week against Austin Peay and Tennessee State. The honor was announced Monday by the OVC office.
A transfer student out of Owens (Ohio) Community College, this is the fifth time Darling has been named the OVC Newcomer of the Week in her debut season for coach Sytia Messer's squad. Back in December, Darling was named the Newcomer of the Week four consecutive weeks.
During the weekend, Darling recorded 12 points and 14 rebounds in Tech's wins against Austin Peay and Tennessee State. Against the Tigers, she posted a game-high 12 rebounds to go along with nine points and a blocked shot.
Tech (14-4, 8-1 OVC) continues its road trip Thursday as it takes on Eastern Illinois. Opening tip is set for 5:30 p.m. CT.
