COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – After entering last week's ranking, the Tennessee Tech women's basketball team moved up in the final CollegeInsider.com Women's Mid-Major Top 25 poll of the season.
The Golden Eagles (26-5) have been idle since March 8, winning their 11th Ohio Valley Conference tournament championship with an overtime win over Lindenwood and earning the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Women's Tournament. Despite not playing in 10 days, Tech moved up from No. 25 to No. 20 in the poll.
Tech will face top-seeded South Carolina in Columbia, Mo., on Friday in the first round of the Birmingham Regional. Tipoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. Eastern time at Colonial Life Arena with the game carried locally on 106.1 The Eagle and nationally on ESPN.
Re-entering the poll this week are former OVC opponent Murray State at No. 18, while Stephen F. Austin (No. 23) and Lehigh (No. 25) are added to the poll for the first time this season.
