Blue Raiders snap Golden Eagle women's winning streak

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Peyton Carter and Anna Walker scored In double-figures to lead the Tennessee Tech women Tuesday night, but Middle Tennessee snapped the Golden Eagles' four-game winning streak at Murphy Center, topping Tech 69-52.
 
Tech (4-1) returns to action Saturday as the Golden Eagles head to Johnson City to take on East Tennessee State to continue the four-game road trip with Samford and Colorado still ahead before returning to the Eblen Center.
 
Peyton Carter ended the game with 10 points on 3-of-6 shooting, draining three 3-pointers and going 1-for-2 at the line. She also had five rebounds and three assists in the contest. Walker had 10 points on 4-for-14 shooting with a pair of long-range buckets, while also collecting four boards, one assist and a steal.
 
The Blue Raiders only hit three more shots than the Golden Eagles in the game as MTSU was 22-for-55 and Tech 19-for-55. The differential shooting-wise came at the line as the Blue Raiders were 19-for-22 at the stripe off of 20 Tech fouls. The Golden Eagles went 7-for-13 at the charity stripe off of 15 Middle Tennessee fouls.
 
It was a reunion of Macon County High teammates with Keeley Carter for the Golden Eagles and Jalynn Gregory for Middle Tennessee. Gregory ended the game with 20 points – 4-for-8 from the field, 2-for-6 from 3-point range and a perfect 10-for-10 at the line. She also had five boards, four assists and two steals.
 
Keeley Carter picked up eight points with six rebounds, five assists, a steal and a block.
 
Ta'Mia Scott led Middle Tennessee with 23 points on 8-for-13 shooting with three 3-pointers, eight rebounds, two steals and a block.
 
Offense was at a premium in the opening quarter with both teams keeping pace. The Golden Eagles scored five straight points to take a one-point lead midway through the period, but the Blue Raiders scored six straight to take a 16-10 advantage after the first stanza.
 
Both teams scored 15 points in the second quarter, then Middle Tennessee scored 19 points in each of the final two quarters to pull away, leading by as many as 17 points.
 
MTSU turned 18 Tech turnovers into 23 points, while the Golden Eagles converted 15 turnovers into nine points. The Blue Raiders also had seven blocks in the game, with Anastasiia Boldyreva deflecting six.
