COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – For the second week in a row, Tennessee Tech's Chloe Larry was named the top freshman in the Ohio Valley Conference, picking up her third OVC Freshman of the Week honor of the season on Tuesday.
The awards are nominated and selected by a vote of the league's athletics communications directors.
Larry, a true freshman from Bossier City, La., averaged 16.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 2.5 steals. She led the team in overall scoring for the week, starting off with a 13-point performance at Little Rock, where she also had six rebounds, an assist and two steals.
She followed that performance up with a nearly flawless day at Southeast Missouri on Saturday as she collected 20 points on 7-for-8 shooting – tying her season-high in field goals made – and hit a career-high four 3-points, while also hitting both of her free throw attempts. Larry also had five rebounds, two assists and three steals.
For the season, Larry is averaging 11.8 points per game – the second-highest average on the team – and collecting 4.6 rebounds a game. She also has 74 assists, 26 steals and three blocks.
The other honors went to Western Illinois' Raegan McCowan for Player of the Week and a share between Lindenwood's Gracy Wernli and WIU's Mia Nicastro for Newcomer of the Week.
The Golden Eagles continue their quest for the OVC championships as well as continuing their 11-game overall and 14-game home winning streaks as Tech hosts UT Martin Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
