COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – With a pair of big victories last week to remain in a first-place tie atop the Ohio Valley Conference standings, true freshman guard Chloe Larry earned her second OVC Freshman of the Week honor of the season on Tuesday as she played a big part in the effort.
For the week, the Bossier City, La., native averaged 13.0 points a game and 5.5 rebounds, while also dishing out seven assists and stealing the ball four times. From the field, she shot .348 with a trio of 3-pointers and was 7-for-10 at the free-throw line.
In Thursday's contest, Larry scored 12 points with seven rebounds, two steals and tied her season-high in assists with six. Against Eastern Illinois on Saturday, she scored 14 points – including 13 in the second quarter as the Golden Eagles outscored the visiting Panthers 25-14 in the period – as she also picked up four rebounds, an assist and two steals.
With her help, the Golden Eagles extended their current winning streak to nine games – tied for the second-most in the Kim Rosamond era, just two wins shy of the longest run of 11 games in 2019-20. It also led Tech to its 14th straight victory in the Hooper Eblen Center with the last home loss coming to Morehead State on Feb. 3, 2024. There's still a ways to go for the program's longest home winning streak of 23 between Jan. 5, 1987, and Jan. 11, 1989.
The other winners for the week included UT Martin's Daejah Richmond for Player of the Week and Lindenwood's Brooke Coffey for Newcomer of the Week.
The Golden Eagles hit the road for the final time in the regular season this week as they head to Little Rock on Thursday and Southeast Missouri on Saturday. Tech returns home for a four-game homestand next week, starting with a visit from UT Martin on Feb. 20.
