BOULDER, Colo. – After the weekend flight into Denver, the Tennessee Tech women's basketball team is in Boulder getting set for its first-ever meeting with the Colorado Buffaloes.

Tipoff for the game is scheduled for 11 a.m. local, Noon in Cookeville. Dylan Vazzano will have the call on 106.1 The Eagle, while the game will also be streamed on ESPN+ (subscription required). The early start is because it is Colorado's Field Trip Day, similar to the Golden Eagles' Education Day contest on Friday morning at the Eblen Center.

Colorado enters the game with a 6-2 record following a 79-71 defeat at the hands of No. 23 Louisville this past Saturday. The Buffaloes opened the season with a 91-46 victory over Colorado Mines, then a 56-50 win at Wyoming and a home victory over Northern Colorado.

Following a 50-47 loss at Boise State, Colorado defeated Nevada 75-59, Southern 65-45, Utah State 95-65 and Utah Tech 85-73 before seeing their winning streak snapped by the Cardinals.

The Buffaloes have three double-digit scorers, led by Frida Formann with a 14.8-point clip, with Lior Garzon averaging 12.3 points and Jade Masogayo 11.9 points. On the glass, Sara-Rose Smith leads the team with 6.1 rebounds a game, while Kindyll Wetta has a team-best 53 assists and 18 steals. Masogayo also has a team-best seven blocks.

Colorado is averaging 71.9 points per game while allowing 60.9. The team is shooting .444 from the field, .323 from long-range and .704 from 3-point range. The Buffaloes outrebound their opponents by a 38.9-31-5 margin, while they average 6.4 3-pointers and 12.5 free throws per game. They are allowing 17.5 turnovers and 18.1 assists, while their opponents are giving up 19.0 turnovers to 11.6 assists.

The Golden Eagles, meanwhile, are coming off of a strong showing last week at Samford, beating the Bulldogs 79-65 with a 20-point performance from Peyton Carter, who knocked down four 3-pointers and was 6-for-6 at the line. Tech used two big runs in the contest to distance themselves from the host Bulldogs to snap a two-game losing skid.

In last Tuesday's game, the Golden Eagles had five players in double-digit scoring with Anna Walker, Reghan Grimes and Taris Thornton each collecting 14 points and Chloe Larry with 11. The 14-point tally gave Walker her 1,000th career point. She'll be honored for that milestone on January 2 when the Golden Eagles host Southern Indiana.

As a team, Tech is averaging 66.6 points a game while allowing 58.1. The Golden Eagles are shooting .414 from the field, .307 from 3-point range and .701 from the free-throw line. Tech outrebounds its foes by a 41.3-32.1 margin, while it averages 6.0 3-pointers and 13.4 free throws per game. The Golden Eagles are averaging 19.3 turnovers to 14.9 assists per game, while their opponents are averaging 18.0 turnovers to 11.4 assists.

The Golden Eagles have four averaging double-digit scoring, led by Grimes with 12.3 points. Peyton Carter is averaging 12.0, while Taris Thornton is averaging 10.7 points off the bench. True freshman Chloe Larry is averaging 10.3 points with a team-high 24 assists. Walker stands just short of the double-digit mark at 9.9 points per game, while claiming the team lead with 15 blocks and an 8.7-rebound average. Grimes leads the team in steals with 17.

Following the Colorado contest, the Golden Eagles return home Friday for their Education Day contest against the University of the Cumberlands at 11 a.m. After that, Tech hits the road once again to open Ohio Valley Conference play at Western Illinois and Lindenwood before the Christmas holiday before returning home to welcome in Southern Indiana on January 2.
