ST. CHARLES, Mo. – It was a tough night for the Tennessee Tech women's basketball team on Thursday as the Golden Eagles couldn't get shots to fall in the second and fourth quarters and couldn't battle back from the deficit, falling 67-54 at Lindenwood.

The Golden Eagles fall to 1-1 in the league after the first weekend of Ohio Valley Conference play and 7-4 overall. Lindenwood improves to 5-5 overall and 1-0 in the conference.

Following the Christmas and New Year's holiday break, the Tech women will return to action in the Hooper Eblen Center for the first time since Dec. 6 as the Golden Eagles host defending OVC champion Southern Indiana on January 2.

The first quarter was a balanced affair with an even 15-15 period with Tech shooting 46.7 percent from the field with seven makes out of 15 shots. Lindenwood went 6-for-13 with a 3-pointer and a pair of charity tosses.

But things quickly escalated in favor of the host Lions. Tech was only able to get eight points in the second quarter to Lindenwood's 14 as the Golden Eagles went 7-for-17 from the field and 1-for-8 from long range. The Lions didn't shoot that well – going 5-for-14 from the field – but were able to knock down a 3-pointer and go 3-for-4 at the line.

In the third, Lindenwood got 13 shots at the free-throw line as Tech was whistled for seven fouls to the Lions' two. The hosts knocked down 12 of those. The Golden Eagles were able to improve their shooting slightly, knocking down seven of 17 shots, but was only able to get one 3-pointer to fall.  The Lions shot 6-for-12 from the field for a 50-percent clip to outscore Tech 25-15.

The Golden Eagles outscored Lindenwood in the fourth quarter 16-13, but that mostly came at the line as Tech went 6-for-6 at the stripe and hit 4-for-14 from the field and 2-for-6 from 3-point range. Lindenwood was 5-for-10 from the floor and 3-for-4 at the line.

In all, the Lions were 20-for-23 at the free-throw line compared to the Golden Eagles' 9-for-12. Both teams were only able to collect a trio of treys, while Tech ended the contest shooting 36.2 percent from the field to Lindenwood's 44.9.

Tech got double-digit scoring nights from Keeley Carter with 15 points on a 6-for-11 effort, while Reghan Grimes scored 13 points on 6-for-13 shooting to go along with a team-high eight rebounds. Taris Thornton and Peyton Carter each had eight points.

Lindenwood had five players score in double figures, led by Ellie Brueggemann, who was 2-for-6 from the field, but 9-for-10 at the stripe. Mya Skoff and Gracy Wernli each scored 12 points, while Brooke Coffey and Mykayla Cunningham each had 11.
