COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Keeley Carter has been on a tear in the last month for the Tennessee Tech women's basketball team and she was recognized for her efforts on Tuesday as she earned her second Ohio Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week honor of the season.

Carter, a Lafayette native and Trevecca transfer, led the Golden Eagles in scoring in a 2-0 week against defending league champion Southern Indiana on Thursday and Morehead State on Saturday, collecting 38 total points with a 19.0-point average. She set her own career best with six made 3-pointers on six tries against the Screaming Eagles.

Against USI, Carter scored 23 points – her best since joining the Division I level – while also pulling down four rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block. Against Morehead State, Carter led the Golden Eagles in scoring with 15 points, while also collecting three rebounds, three assists, three steals and a block.

In the last six games alone, Carter has led the Golden Eagles in scoring, averaging 15.0 points, as she has shot .596 from the floor, .643 from 3-point range and .833 from the free-throw line. Tech has gone 4-2 in that stretch.

Reghan Grimes (17.0 ppg and 10.0 rpg) was in the running for the league's Player of the Week, but the league's sports information contacts selected Little Rock's Faith Lee, who averaged 24.5 points and 2.5 rebounds.

Southeast Missouri freshman Zoe Best (21.0 ppg, 6.3 rpg) was named the conference's Freshman of the Week.

Tech stands at 3-1 in the OVC after the first two weekends of league play. The Golden Eagles return to action on Thursday as they travel to league-leader Eastern Illinois for a 5 p.m. contest, then head to SIUE on Saturday.
