COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech women's basketball team is certainly enjoying the sights and taking care of business on the court as they continue their tour of Portugal this week.
The Golden Eagles opened up play with a 78-45 exhibition victory over Porto Select. Statistics were not kept during the contest, but Tech put together a strong effort to cruise to the big win.
The start of the trip had a bumpy start as delays, cancellations and route changes took up nearly the first 48 hours of the voyage. But the Tennessee Tech squad made the best of it, finally arriving in Portugal on Monday.
After their welcome dinner at Sancho Panza, Tech opened up Tuesday with a bus tour of Porto, then enjoyed a cruise on the Porto River. Following the contest against Porto Select, the Golden Eagles then headed to Lisbon. There, the squad had a guided tuk tuk tour of Lisbon and Belem.
Thursday saw the team take tours of Pena Palace, Sintra and Cabo de Roca, the most western point of Europe.
As the Golden Eagles enter their final days of the trip, Tech will take on CF Belenenses on Friday to close out the competition part of the schedule. Saturday, the team will get to cruise on the Tagus River before a farewell dinner at Prazeres de Carne.
The team is expected to fly back stateside and head to Cookeville on Sunday.
