COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – It came down to one last shot, but Tennessee Tech's final attempt came late as the buzzer sounded, giving Lipscomb the 74-72 exhibition victory Tuesday night at the Hooper Eblen Center.

The Golden Eagles had four players score in double digits, led by Peyton Carter with 17 points with six rebounds. Freshman Chloe Larry scored 13 points in her debut, while Anna Walker tabbed in 12 and nine boards to just miss a double-double. Reghan Grimes scored 10 points and pulled down six rebounds. Newcomer Keeley Carter also narrowly missed a double-double with nine points and nine caroms.

Bella Vinson led Lipscomb with 21 points and six rebounds, while Ainhoa Cea had 16 points and six assists. Molly Heard and Jalyn Holcomb both scored 14 points.

Lipscomb led 9-2 before the Golden Eagles went on a 13-0 run, then closed out the first quarter with a 19-11 lead. The Bisons outscored Tech 21-11 in the second quarter for a 32-30 advantage, then Tech tied the game at the end of the third with 52 points all.

The Golden Eagles led by five points at 72-67 with 1:42 remaining in the contest, but Lipscomb went on a 7-0 run in the final 1:04 of the game as Cea hit a layup, Holcomb drained a 3-pointer with 18 seconds left to tie the game at 72, then Vinson hit a pair of free throws with three seconds remaining.

Walker attempted a last-ditch shot but the shot fell off the rim, Peyton Carter claimed the board and tried one more shot – which went in – but the officials ruled the shot came after the final buzzer sounded.

With the game as an exhibition contest, statistics do not count toward the regular season or career stats.

The Golden Eagles will open the 2024-25 campaign on Monday as they host Emory & Henry at the Eblen Center, starting at 6 p.m.
