CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech women's basketball team knew it was going to be challenged through the 2024-25 season and after a victory on Monday night over Emory & Henry, the Golden Eagles will get a test on Thursday night as they take on Chattanooga on the road.

Tipoff for Thursday's game is scheduled for 5 p.m. Central. Roger Ealey will have the broadcast on 106.1 The Eagle, while the contest will also be streamed on ESPN+ (subscription required).

For the Mocs (1-0), they'll be hosting their second straight home contest after topping Shorter University 66-49. Chattanooga got double-digit scoring from three players in the game as Karsen Murphy led the way with 16 points, Sigrun Olafsdottir picked up 11 and Caia Elisaldez added 10.

The Mocs ended the game shooting 25-for-60 from the field (41.7 percent), while hitting 30-percent (9-for-30) from long-range. At the line, Chattanooga was 7-for-12 (58.3 percent). They dominated the glass, outrebounding Shorter 40-23, using that to collect 11 second-chance points off of 15 offensive caroms. Gianna Corbitt led the effort on the glass with 11 rebounds, including five on the offensive side.

Both sides had their troubles with turnovers as Shorter was forced into 19 giveaways, but Chattanooga also lost the ball 18 times, leading to 18 points for Shorter.

Chattanooga went 28-5 last season, including a 13-1 mark in the Southern Conference. The Mocs defeated UNC Greensboro 69-60 in the SoCon championship game to advance to the NCAA Tournament, but fell to No. 3 N.C. State 64-45 in the opening round.

The Mocs lost their top three scorers from a season ago with former Golden Eagle Jada Guinn leading the way with 19.5 points, 6.9 rebounds and 2.5 assists, while Raven Thompson averaged 14.2 points and 7.0 rebounds and Hannah Kohn averaged 7.6 points and 1.3 rebounds.

Meanwhile, the Golden Eagles (1-0) opened their campaign with an 82-54 victory over Emory & Henry on Monday with four players collecting double-digit scoring, led by true freshman Chloe Larry with 17 points, Reghan Grimes and Taris Thornton with 16 points and Peyton Carter with 11.

Tech also dominated on the glass, pulling down 44 boards, including 17 offensive caroms. The Golden Eagles also forced 25 turnovers to create 21 points. Tech dished the ball out well to collect 20 assists, while shooting 45.6 percent from the field, 26.3 percent from the field and 71.4 from the free-throw line.

The Golden Eagles also dominated in the paint, scoring 48 of their 82 points inside.

Following Thursday's game at Chattanooga, the Tech women will return home for a Sunday night contest against North Alabama. With Tech hosting the OVC Women's Soccer Championship on Sunday afternoon, the game was pushed back to a 6 p.m. start.
