BRENTWOOD, Tenn. --- After leading the Golden Eagles in scoring this past week, Tennessee Tech junior Jala Harris has been named the Ohio Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week.

It is Harris’ second OVC Newcomer of the Week award this season, with her first coming on Jan. 10.

Harris earned the honor after averaging 21 points, five rebounds and three assists per game in Tech’s games against Tennessee State and Eastern Illinois.

Harris began the week putting up a career-high 26 points at TSU, while going 9-of-9 from the line. She followed with a game-high 16 points against EIU, while staying perfect at the charity strip as she connected on all four of her attempts.

UT Martin's Heather Butler received the OVC Player of the Week award, while Austin Peay's Shelby Olszewski earned the OVC Freshman of the Week honor.

Tech hosts its “Think Pink” night Saturday as the Golden Eagles take the Eastern Kentucky Colonels. The opening tip is set for 7 p.m.
