WHUB to air weekly Coach's Show with Messer, Payne each Wednesday

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee Tech basketball fans can keep up with the Golden Eagles through a variety of sources, and the Golden Eagle Sports Network has joined with Cookeville Communications to provide another option -- a weekly radio show featuring head coaches Sytia Messer and Steve Payne.

The program, to be hosted on WHUB am 1400 by longtime "Voice of the Golden Eagles" Roger Ealey, will air each Wednesday night during the season at 8:05 p.m. The program begins Wednesday, Nov. 9, and will run through the end of the season. The only week it will not be aired is Dec. 28.

Messer is in her third season as head coach of the TTU women's team and directs a team that has been picked to win the Ohio Valley Conference in 2012 after capturing the OVC regular season title a year ago. MEsser was named OVC Coach of the Year. After an exhibition win Monday night against Bryan College, the women open the regular season Friday night at East Tennessee State with their first game in the preseason Women's National Invitation Tournament.

Payne is in his first season as head coach of the men's team, but is certainly no stranger to the program. He served as associate head coach for the Golden Eagles for nine seasons under Mike Sutton. His team is picked for second place this season in the OVC. The Golden Eagles tip off the 2011-12 schedule Friday noght with a game at the University of Miami (Fla.) before opening at home next Teusday (Nov. 15) by hosting Reinhardt College.

Tickets for the 2011-12 season are on sale at the Athletics Ticket Office in Eble Center or by calling (931) 372-3940.
