COOKEVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee Tech looks to rebound from a home loss to Appalachian State by taking a victory on the road at High Point at 6 p.m. CST Tuesday.

The Golden Eagles will also be looking to avenge an 11-point loss suffered at the hands of the Panthers a season ago at Eblen Center. Tech is still looking for its first victory over a Division I opponent this season and the first of first-year head coach Steve Payne's career.

The Golden Eagles are coming off a two-game homestand in which they made quick work of Reinhardt, winning 94-64, before falling to Appalachian State, 68-63, on Saturday. In that game, the Mountaineers shot 50 percent from three-point range and held Tech to just 35 percent from the field. Ohio Valley Conference Preseason Player of the Year Kevin Murphy led the Golden Eagles in scoring, pouring in 28 points, while Jud Dillard notched the team's first double-double of the season, scoring 22 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.

Tuesday's matchup with High Point marks only the second meeting between the two schools with 2010 marking the first time Golden Eagles and Panthers had ever faced one another. Tech is 5-3 all-time against current members of the Big South Conference.

After three games, the Golden Eagles are led in scoring by Murphy, who is averaging 18.0 points per contest on the heels of his season-high 28 on Saturday. Dillard and senior point guard Zac Swansey are also averaging double-figure scoring, putting in 15.7 and 12.3 points per game, respectively. Dillard has been Tech's top rebounder, collecting 7.3 boards per game.

High Point, which has also played three games, is led in scoring by senior guard Shay Shine, who is averaging 17.0 points per outing to go with 6.3 rebounds. Two other Panthers — senior guard Nick Barbour (15.7) and junior forward Corey Law (12.7) — are also scoring in double-figures. Law leads High Point in rebounding, pulling down 8.0 boards per game.

High Point is coming off back-to-back road losses to high-major opponents, falling 84-72 at Central Florida and narrowly missing an upset at Purdue in a 67-65 setback. The Panthers opened their season with a blowout victory over Division III Bridgewater College.
