Golden Eagles host old rival Western Kentucky Wednesday

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. --- An old rivalry will take center stage Wednesday evening in Eblen Center as the Tennessee Tech women's basketball team hosts former Ohio Valley Conference rival Western Kentucky.

The opening tip is set for 5:30 p.m., with the men's game against East Tennessee State set to follow the conclusion of the women's game.

This will be the 36th meeting between the Golden Eagles and Lady Toppers, with TTU holding the slight edge at 18-17. In their last meeting back in the 2005-06 season, WKU claimed an 83-66 victory over Tech.

Against Lipscomb, senior Brittany Darling recorded her sixth career double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds, to go along with three blocks. She is currently second on team in rebounds with 41, and leads the team in blocks with eight.

Senior Tacarra Hayes finished with 14 points and nine rebounds against Lipscomb and is TTU's leading scorer on the season with 114 points. She also leads the team in rebounds and assists with 45 and 30, respectively.

Western Kentucky has an identical record of 2-6 on the season, which includes a recent 69-54 victory over Louisiana Tech.

LaTeira Owens is WKU's leading scorer and rebounder on the season, averaging 10.9 points and 9.3 rebounds per game. Danay Fothergill has been the Lady Topper's main outside threat this season, connecting on 12 three point shots in four games this season.
