COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- It was just over one year ago that the Golden Eagles lost to Western Carolina by three points in the Eblen Center and revenge in Cullowhee, N.C. would be sweet. Tennessee Tech travels to Western Carolina to face the Catamounts Saturday at 1 p.m., kicking-off a six game road stretch.

Setting the Stage:
Just over one year ago, the Catamounts came from behind to defeat Tech in the Eblen Center 61-58. The series is one of the most compeitive in program history, with Tech's last victory coming in 1975.

The Golden Eagles are back in the win column after downing former OVC foe Samford 65-56 Thursday night. Back in action was senior guard Jala Harris who led the team with 20 points and added five assists. Harris acted as floor general, scoring on the dribble and from behind the arc and effortlessly finding her teammates. Head coach Jim Davis used a new starting lineup, his fifth of the season, and the group clicked. Tech opened with a 6-0 run and shot 41.5% from the floor and a stunning 63.6% from the three-point range. In their last meeting, Tech was 3-17 from behind the arc, and shot 39.7% from the field.

A Glance at the 2012-13 Golden Eagles
The team has proved that when they're hot, they're hot. Tech is undefeated when shooting 50% or better from behind the three point line, the key to this season is shooting the ball consistently.

The Golden Eagles are led by Diamond Henderson, who is averaging 16.8 points per game, but Jala Harris showed the depth of her game against Samford. Harris is currently averaging 9.6 points per game, and leads the team with 3.2 assists per game. Lashay Davis is also consitently adding points to board, averaging 7.5 points per game. Davis leads the team with 11 steals on the season.

The front court has seen several different players take over, but T'Keyah Williams is the top rebounder with 7.4 rebounds per game. Helping out is freshman Mariah Dean, who recorded her first career start against Samford, Candace Parson and Quira Demery.

A Look at the Catamounts
Western Carolina has a very balanced offensive attack led by Diamond Hunnicutt, averaging 9.3 points per game. Rena Wakama and Ali Lane  add 9.0 and 7.1 points per game respectively, with Shauna Terry leading the Catamounts with 5.7 rebounds per game.

Western Carolina has lost most of their games by very close margins, with wins against UNC Asheville, UNC Greensboro and North Carolina Center.

Series History
Tech and Western Carolina first met in the 1971-72 season and Tech won the first three meetings through 1976. There was a 30-year gap until their next meeting in 2007-08, and the Catamounts napped their first victory over the Purple and Gold. The Catamounts won last season 61-58 in a comeback victory, bringing the series to 3-2.
