Tennessee Tech women's basketball hosts Play 4 Kay awareness event

 

COOKEVILLE, Tenn -- The Tennessee Tech women's basketball team will host its annual "Think Pink" event Saturday night in association with the Kay Yow Cancer Fund and Play 4 Kay. The awareness event will take place during Tech's home game against Jacksonville State with tipoff at 5:30 p.m.

The team will be representing the Play 4 Kay initiative as well as raising overall awareness to breast cancer care and research by wearing pink flourishes during the game. The Golden Eagles will represent the thousands of breast cancer survivors in the Upper Cumberland area, as well as the fight for a cure.

Fans can show their support by wearing pink to the game, and tickets will be $1 dollar for those who wear pink.

Play 4 Kay is a national breast cancer awareness initiative sponsored by the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. Previously known' as the WBCA Pink Zone, Play 4 Kay is an initiative that unites a nation of coaches raising breast cancer awareness for research on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond.

In talking about the 2013 campaign, Kay Yow Cancer Fund executive director Sue Donohoe said "It is exciting that we are entering the seventh year of this powerful breast cancer awareness initiative.  Teams and organizations across the nation have used Play 4Kay as an avenue to touch and change millions of lives. We look forward to continuing our efforts in the fight against women's cancers through this movement." 

All fans wearing pink will only have to pay $1 for their ticket in honor of the Women's Basketball Play 4 Kay event. Visit or call the Athletics Ticket Office in Eblen Center (931-372-3940) for tickets or information.
