SEMMES, Ala. – The Tennessee Tech men's golf wrapped up action at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate on Tuesday, making its last trip around the Falls Course at RTJ at Magnolia Grove in Semmes, Ala.
The purple and gold completed the final three to four holes of Monday's suspended round two before circling the links one final time for round three. Tech finished 13th overall after totaling a 904, finishing off a 308 in the second round and firing a 294 in the third for the team's lowest score of the week.
Host South Alabama captured the tournament crown behind a 21-under 831, topping the field by 12 shots. The Jaguars' Hugo Thyr took home individual medalist honors, rifling a 16-under 197 for the week with scores of 64, 67, and 66.
For the Golden Eagles, it was Haden Maxwell leading the charge with another impressive showing, recording a season-low 211 to tie for 12th among the 78-man field. The junior finished off round two with a 74 behind three birdies before turning around and ripping off a 3-under 68 with a whopping six birdies.
Rookie Spencer Stuke tied for 63rd after totaling a 230 for the week, completing a second-round 78 with one birdie before carding a 74 powered by another birdie and 15 pars in the third round. Fellow freshman Drew Bolton followed behind with a three-day total of 232, rounding out a 76 with two birdies for round two and turning in a 77 with one birdie in round three.
Sophomore Alex Broyles totaled a 233 following the final two rounds of the event, posting an 82 in the second round and registering a 75 with a birdie for round three. Finishing off the Tech lineup, sophomore Owen Bright closed out his first tournament in the purple and gold with a composite 239, racking up scores of 80 and 79 with one birdie in each round.
Tech returns to action with a trip north to Bloomington, Ind. for the Hoosier Collegiate on Saturday, Apr. 5 and Sunday, Apr. 6. Hosted by Indiana, play will take place at The Pfau Course at Indiana University.
