Golden Eagle individuals finish play at TSU Big Blue Intercollegiate

OLD HICKORY, Tenn. – Four members of the Tennessee Tech men's golf team completed the third and final round of action at the TSU Big Blue Intercollegiate on Tuesday, competing as individuals at President's Reserve at The Hermitage Golf Course in Old Hickory, Tenn.

Earning medalist honors by topping the field of 92 golfers was UT Martin's Jackson Twerdahl, registering a 9-under 204 behind a third-round 65. 

Leading the Golden Eagles for the two-day event was freshman Hil Thompson, tallying the team's top score for the week in round three. The rookie tied for 66th overall with a score of 229, saving his best for last with an even-par 72 backed by three birdies and 11 pars in the third round.

Sophomore Owen Bright was Mr. Consistency for the purple and gold, carding his third consecutive round of 77 on Tuesday. The youngster finished 76th with a collective 231, producing two birdies in the final trip around the course.

Tying for 80th with a composite 234 was senior Alexander Bassel, who turned in a final round of 80 with 10 pars. Rounding out the Tech group with a total of 236, senior Avery Irwin capped off the week with an 81 on the day.

The Golden Eagles will have one final tune-up prior to the Ohio Valley Conference Championships, heading to Bridgeport, W.Va. for the Mountaineer Invitational. Hosted by West Virginiga, play will run from Monday, Apr. 14 through Tuesday, Apr. 15 at Pete Dye Golf Club.
