Golden Eagles finish 10th at Pinetree Intercollegiate

KENNESAW, Ga. – The Tennessee Tech men's golf team completed action at the Pinetree Intercollegiate Tuesday afternoon, finishing off the third and final round of action at Pinetree Country Club in Kennesaw, Ga.

The Golden Eagles placed 10th overall at the tournament, closing things out with a third-round tally of 307 and a 950 for the week. Host Kennesaw State rolled on its way to a team title, defeating the field by 30 strokes with an 870 on its home course. KSU's Claes Borregaard earned individual medalist honors behind a three-round tally of 213.

Leading the effort for the purple and gold, Haden Maxwell tied for eighth among the 60-man field after totaling 221 for the event. The junior tallied four birdies on his way to a 76 to close out the day.

Tying for 42nd overall, sophomore Matthew Shull turned in the top round of the day for the Golden Eagles, firing an even-par 72 to finish with a 236 overall. The newcomer racked up five birdies and an eagle on the par-4 fifth hole during the final round. Fellow sophomore Alex Broyles tacked on three birdies and an 82 to his tally for the week, finishing with a 245 overall.

Next among the Tech participants, freshman Drew Bolton delivered his best round of the event on Tuesday, carding a 77 with three birdies. He finished with a total of 248. Fellow rookie Spencer Stuke also saved his best round for last, producing an 84 with a birdie while totaling 261 for the week.

Tech will wrap up both the fall campaign and a stretch of three straight weeks on the links with a visit to Cincinnati, Ohio for the Xavier Invitational at Meketewah Country Club from Monday, Oct. 21 through Tuesday, Oct. 22.
