COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech men's golf head coach Polk Brown announced the addition of two players for the 2025-26 athletic season, welcoming Cooper Gettler and Bryson White to the Golden Eagles' 2024-25 signing class.
COOPER GETTLER
Hometown: Lebanon, Tenn.
High School: Mt. Juliet High School
Gettler was a four-year letterwinner for head coach William Schwarz at Mt. Juliet High School in nearby Mt. Juliet, Tenn. The local product showed vast improvement from his sophomore campaign to his senior season, trimming nearly five full strokes off his scoring average.
A three-time All-District honoree and 2023 Wilson County Cup Winner, the future Golden Eagle also claimed All-Region accolades and a fourth-place finish at the TSSAA Class AA State championships. Gettler's performance as the state tournament, rounds of 72 and 71, provided him with the best finish in MJHS history for the state championships.
After averaging 75.22 per round as a sophomore, the youngster went to work prior to his senior campaign, where he delivered a 70.25 scoring average. He also delivered a career-low round of 65 during his senior season at MJHS. In tournament play, Gettler has competed in a number of events such as 2023 the Tennessee State Amateur at Chattanooga Golf & Country Club, 2023 Tennessee Junior Amateur at Spring Creek Ranch, the 2024 Tennessee State Junior Amateur at Hermitage Golf Club, and the 2024 Tennessee State Open at Greystone Golf Club. He also took home first place at the 2024 HJGT Nashville Summer Junior Open.
COACH BROWN'S TAKE
"Cooper is one of those under-the-radar type players that we always look for during the recruitment process. He has really progressed in his game over the last 12 to 18 months and played some outstanding golf. We look for this to continue over his career at Tech. He comes from a great family and will be an amazing ambassador for our program. I can't wait for him to join us in August."
BRYSON WHITE
Hometown: Clinton, Tenn.
High School: Christian Academy of Knoxville (CAK)
White was a two-sport athlete at CAK, competing on the links for head golf coach Donnie Cooper and on the hardwood as a guard for head basketball coach JD Johnson. The future Golden Eagle was highly decorated across both sports, particularly following his senior campaign on the links.
CAK's team MVP for golf, White was named the 2024 Knoxville Player of the Year. He backed up the honor by claiming the 2024 TSSAA Division II-A individual state championship, firing rounds of 69 and 71 to earn a one-stroke victory at Sevierville Golf Club.
During his time at CAK, he helped lead the program to state titles in 2021 and 2022, district championships in 2021, 2022, and 2023, and four straight region crowns from 2021-24. A standout on the basketball court as well, he was presented with the team's Defensive MVP honor and Warrior Award.
COACH BROWN'S TAKE
"Bryson has had an amazing junior golf career, capped off by winning an individual state title this past October. He will bring a lot of tournament experience to our program, as well as an extremely high work ethic. Most importantly, he is an exceptional young man who also comes from a great family. We are honored to have him join us next fall."
