BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – With the 2025 spring session rapidly approaching for many teams across the league, the Ohio Valley Conference released its men's golf season preview and athletes to watch Friday morning.
For Tennessee Tech, it comes as little surprise to see junior Haden Maxwell as the team's representative for the league as a Player to Watch. During the fall, the Soddy Daisy, Tenn. native led the purple and gold with a 72.36 scoring average while ranking seventh in the OVC.
Maxwell produced a pair of top-10 finishes in the fall season, highlighted by a 6-under 138 in the 36-hole Grover Page Classic. He tied for fifth among 99 golfers in the event after firing back-to-back rounds of 69.
Last season, Maxwell established himself as one of the best in the league as a sophomore, collecting a pair of OVC Male Golfer of the Week honors and capturing medalist honors at the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate.
He wrapped up the break-out campaign by earning a spot on the OVC All-Tournament Team after finishing as the stroke-play runner-up at the OVC Championships. His play helped lead Tech to its first OVC title since 1990 and first-ever bid to the NCAA Championships.
The Golden Eagles men's squad was selected seventh in the predicted order of finish for the league after key departures from last year's roster. Seniors Sean Anderson and Mark McDearman each completed their eligibility while Jackson Skeen elected to pursue a professional career on the links.
Tech will return to the links for its spring campaign in March, with a trip to St. Simons Island, Ga. and Sea Palms Resort for the People Golf Championships. Hosted by Western Carolina, the tournament will span Mar. 13-15.
