COOKEVILLE, Tenn.—After an exemplary performance this past week, Akia Harris has been selected as the Ohio Valley Conference adidas® Freshman of the Week on Jan. 10.

Harris broke the Tech record books when she became the fifth ever Golden Eagle to record a coveted triple-double. Harris totaled 19 points, 12 assists, and 10 rebounds in the Purple and Gold's 72-54 victory over Murray State on Saturday. Harris was only the second freshman to accomplish the feat, recording the tenth total program triple-double. Harris was also the first to reach the mark since 2010, when Tacarra Hayes accomplished the deed on the exact same date (Jan. 7) with 15 points, 12 assists, and 10 rebounds vs. Morehead State. Harris' 19 points, 10 rebounds, and three steals in the contest vs. the Racers landed as new career-highs for the 5-foot-7 freshman, while her 12 assists tied her current-career best performance.

Harris also opened the week with another solid performance versus Austin Peay, when she came just shy of a triple-double with 12 points, nine assists, and seven boards in Tech's 87-84 overtime loss on Thursday in the Hoop. Harris ended the week leading the Golden Eagles in total points (31), rebounds (17), assists (21), and steals (6), while shooting 37 percent from the field, 60 percent from the three-point range, and 72.7 percent from the charity stripe.

Tech returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 17, when the Golden Eagles host OVC-opponent Jacksonville State in a 5:30 p.m. contest at the Hooper Eblen Center.
