Tech women's basketball to close out 4-game road stand at Cincinnati

COOKEVILLE, Tenn.—The Tennessee Tech women's basketball team (2-5) will turn right around and head to Cincinnati (5-1) on Friday for a 6 p.m. tip at the Fifth-Third Arena. 

In the series, the Golden Eagles and Bearcats are tied up at three games each. The two teams last faced on December 29, 2007, when Cincinnati defeated Tech 71-57 on the Golden Eagle's home court. The Bearcats have also won the last two contests. 

Hickson leads the Golden Eagles on the season averaging 16.4 points per game, which ranks her second amongst OVC opponents. She also averages 3.7 boards per game, while shooting 46.4 percent from the field, 32.0 percent from the three-point range, and 78.4 percent from the charity stripe. Hickson also ranks eighth in the OVC for her free throw percentage. 

Senior Treyvonna Brooks is another key players on the Golden Eagle lineup. Brooks is Tech's second leading scorer, averaging 9.9 points per game. She also stands as the Purple and Gold's leader off the glass with 5.9 boards per game. Brooks shoots 44.8 percent from the floor, 20 percent from downtown, and 53.8 percent from the free throw line. She has also tallied the most blocks on the squad with 10 thus far this season, while grabbing the third most steals with 10. In the OVC, Brooks finds herself ranked fourth in offensive boards, seventh in blocked shots, 15th in steals, and 18th in rebounding. Brooks had a phenomenal last showing at Winthrop where she got her first career double-double with 22 points and 11 boards (which set career-highs) in both. 

Hannah Goolsby leads the Golden Eagles in steals with 13 on the season. She is Tech's third leading scorer, averaging 7.9 points per game. Goolsby shoots 28.8 percent from the field, 30 percent from beyond the arc, and 62.5 percent from the line, while averaging 3.7 boards per game. 

Shanice Johnson leads the Bearcats, averaging 18.2 points per game. Johnson also stands as Cincinnati's leader off the boards with 10.9 rebounds per game. She has also notched 19 steals (best mark on the squad), 11 assists, and nine blocks (highest on team) thus far this year. Johnson shoots 53.2 percent from the field, 66.7 percent from the three-point range, and 74.2 percent from the free throw line. 

Ana Owens is the Bearcat's second leading scorer, averaging 14.8 points per game. She is Cincinnati's second leader in assists with 13 on the year, and also averages 2.7 boards per game. Owens shoots 38.3 percent from the floor, 42.4 percent from downtown, and 81.3 percent from the charity stripe. 

Bianca Quisenberry is the Bearcat's leader in assists with 21 on the season. She is also Cincinnati's third leading scorer, averaging 7.5 points per game. Quisenberry grabs 4.2 rebounds per game and has tallied 11 steals on the season. She shoots 27.3 percent from the floor, 29.4 percent from beyond the arc, and 66.7 percent from the free throw line. 

As a team, the Golden Eagles shoot 36 percent from the field, 27.6 percent from the three-point range, and 64.2 percent from the charity stripe. The Bearcats shoot 37.5 percent from the floor, 34.6 percent from downtown, and 67.5 percent from the line. Tech averages 34.9 boards and 16.9 turnovers per game, while Cincinnati averages 40.3 boards and 14.7 turnovers per game.
