COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Eight home nights, including visits from UT Martin and Belmont, highlight the first Ohio Valley Conference campaign for new Tennessee Tech women's basketball head coach Kim Rosamond.
"The OVC is a very balanced and competitive league from top to bottom," Rosamond said, "and we will face some of the best coached teams in the country within our conference."
The Golden Eagles open the league slate on the road as they ring in the New Year with a road trip to Southeast Missouri and SIU-Edwardsville on Dec. 29 and 31. The Redhawks game is a 7:15 p.m. start, while the Cougars will be a New Year's Eve matinee at 3:30 p.m.
From there, it's a four-game homestand as the Golden Eagles host Austin Peay (Jan. 5), Murray State (Jan. 7), Jacksonville State (Jan. 14) and Tennessee State (Jan. 18). The first three are doubleheaders with the Tech men, while the Lady Tigers come in for a single contest.
Tech wraps up January with trips to Belmont (Jan. 21) and Morehead State (Jan. 25), before coming back home to host Eastern Kentucky (Jan. 28).
The Golden Eagles open up February with a visit from UT Martin (Feb. 1), then travels to Eastern Illinois (Feb. 4) and Tennessee State (Feb. 8).
Tech closes out the regular season with alternating home and road games as it hosts Belmont (Feb. 11), travels to Jacksonville State (Feb. 18), entertains Morehead (Feb. 20) and hits the road to Richmond to take on Eastern Kentucky (Feb. 25).
The OVC tournament will be held on March 1-4 at Nashville's Municipal Auditorium.
"There is a lot of talent and experience returning throughout the league," Rosamond said, "and this should make for a very exciting and challenging conference season."
