Golden Eagle women's basketball welcomes two more to the 2017-18 roster

By Holly Weber, TTU Sports Information

COOKEVILLE, Tenn.—@TTUWBB head coach Kim Rosamond is pleased to announce the signing of two Golden Eagles to the 2017-18 roster: MacKenzie Coleman and Jordan Brock.

"With the additions of MacKenzie and Jordan today,Tennessee Tech just answered a lot of needs for our basketball team for the next four years. It's not every day that you can sign a guard and a post who have already combined for over 4,000 points heading into their senior seasons. Kenzie and Jordan are extremely talented players who will add another dimension to our team offensively. By adding these two highly-decorated players to the four standouts we signed on Wednesday, I have no doubts this class can be the foundation for championships in the future. Tennessee and Kentucky are vital to recruiting in our program, and our staff's tireless work in those regions are evident by the elite players we signed."

MacKenzie Coleman comes to Cookeville after a four-year career at Metcalfe County High School where she played under the tutelage of Josh Hurt.

"MacKenzie is one of the most skilled 6'3" post players I have seen in a long time," Rosamond said. "She can run the floor, score in the paint, knock down the outside shot, and put the ball on the floor to create her own shot; but my favorite thing about her might be her passing ability. You don't find many big kids that can read a defense and set up her teammates as well as she can. With her size and length, she will be a difference maker on both ends of the floor. I expect Kenzie to be an anchor for us in the paint for years to come."

An Edmonton, Ky., native, Coleman has had a stellar prep career, leaving her high school as the All-Time Leading Scorer. Coleman has thus far tallied 2,107 points while shooting 53.5 percent from the field and 76 percent from the free throw line. She has also notched 1,280 career rebounds and 374 career blocks. Coleman has been three-times named to the 4th Region All "Class A" Tournament Team and to the 16th District All District Team.

"I chose Tennessee Tech because the first time I went on a campus visit, I immediately fell in love," Coleman remarked. "I had that feeling that this is where I was meant to be. After I got to know the players and the coaches, I knew they were the type of people I wanted to share my college basketball experience with.  I believe they will help shape me into a great person and help me succeed both on the court and in life."

AAU Team: Southern Kentucky Starz

Academic Honors: Senior class president, National Honor Society, and National Beta Club.

Athletic Honors: Freshman season: Fourth Region All "Class A" Tournament Team, 16th District All District Team; Sophomore season: Fourth Region All "Class A" Tournament Team, 16th District All District Team, All-Fourth Region second team, KHSAA Stat Leaders, 1,000 Point Club, All-State Honorable Mention, Lexington Herald Leader; Junior season: Fourth Region All "Class A" Tournament Team, 16th District All District Team, Fourth Region All Tournament Team, first team All-Region, Lexington Herald Leader, All-State second team, KHSAA Stat Leaders.

Also joining the Golden Eagle family is Jordan Brock. Brock, a Harlan, Ky., native played for four years at Harlan High School, where she was instructed by head coach Derrick Akal.

"Jordan Brock is a steal for this program," Rosamond stated. "She didn't spend a lot of time on the travel ball circuit, so she is definitely a player who comes in under the radar. But rest assured, it will only take a glimpse of her and our fans will be excited. Her court vision and her ball handling ability will add another dimension to our program. She has scored over 2,000 points in her high school career already, and she still has her entire senior year ahead of her. Jordan can score in a multitude of ways, but she also has a knack for making everyone around her better. She is a gym rat and loves the game of basketball."

Currently in her senior season, Brock has already tallied 2,068 career points, which broke the former school record of 2,007 career points to land herself as the all-time leading scorer. Last season, she was named to the All Region and All State first teams, while also receiving Region and District All "A" MVP accolades.

"I chose Tennessee Tech because it made me feel at home," Brock said. "I felt like the staff and players were a family. I know that the transition from high school to Tech will be very easy for me."

Athletic Honors: Freshman season: Second team All-Region, District All-Tournament team, Regional All-Tournament team, All "A" Tournament team; Sophomore season: First team All-Region, District All-Tournament team, Region All-Tournament team, All "A" MVP; Junior season: Surpassed 2,000 points, all-time school point leader, first team All-Region, first team All-State, Region All-Tournament team, District All-Tournament team, All "A" MVP.
