COOKEVILLE, Tenn.—The Tennessee Tech women's basketball team (1-5) will continue their four-game road stand at Winthrop (1-6) on Tuesday. The Golden Eagles and Eagles will face off in a 6 p.m. contest at the Winthrop Coliseum in Rock Hill, S.C.
Looking at the series, Tech holds the 4-0 advantage over Winthrop. The last time the Golden Eagles and Eagles met was in the 2004-05 season, when Tech defeated Winthrop 73-54.
Hickson leads the Golden Eagles 16.0 points per game on the season, which ranks her fourth amongst OVC opponents. She shoots 80 percent from the free throw line, which marks her fourth in the OVC as well. Hickson tallied her first 20-point game of the season at UNC Asheville, which tied her career-high of 23 points. On the season, she shoots 45.1 percent from the floor and 38.1 percent from downtown.
Senior Treyvonna Brooks is another key player on the Golden Eagle lineup. Brooks leads Tech in rebounds, averaging 5.0 boards per game. She also stands as the Golden Eagle's second leading scorer, averaging 7.8 points per game. Her 1.3 blocks per game rank her eighth amongst OVC players. On the year, Brooks shoots 40 percent from the field, 25 percent from the three-point range, and 50 percent from the charity stripe.
Freshman Akia Harris leads the Golden Eagles in assists with 23 on the season, which marks her eighth in the OVC.
Senior Hannah Goolsby leads Tech in steals with 11 on the year, which marks seventh in the OVC.
Lindsey Jennings had a great last outing for the Golden Eagles. The senior set career-highs in points (13) and rebounds (8), while also dishing out a season-high five assists in the contest. She stands as Tech's second leader in assists with 15 on the year, and is also second in steals with 10.
Erica Williams leads Winthrop, averaging 15.9 points per game. She is also the Eagle's second leading rebounder with 5.1 boards per game. On the season, Williams shoots 40 percent from the field, 18.8 percent from beyond the arc, and 73.7 percent from the free throw line. She is an all-around player for the Winthrop squad as she also leads the Eagle's in assists with 24 on the year and is tied for second in steals with 11 and is second in blocks with four.
Teylahna Green is Winthrop's leader off the glass, averaging 7.0 boards per game.
Danyael Goodhope is the Eagle's second leading scorer with 8.0 points per game. She is also the second leader in assists with 11 on the season and is first in steals with 18. On the season, Goodhope shoots 37.5 percent from the floor, 30.8 percent from the three-point range, and 36.4 percent from the free throw line.
As a team, Tech shoots 34.5 percent from the field, 28 percent from downtown, and 66.7 percent from the charity stripe, while Winthrop shoots 38 percent from the floor, 24.7 percent from beyond the arc, and 68.3 percent from the line. The Golden Eagles average 34.3 boards per game to the Eagle's 33.1. Tech also allows just 17.3 turnovers per game to Winthrop's 22.
