The Golden Eagles enter the contest coming off wins over Ball State, Bryan College, Union College, and Southeast Missouri. Tech visits EIU with a 7-6 record overall, and a 1-1 mark in OVC play. The Panthers are 8-5 on the season, and 2-1 in the OVC.

The Panthers are led by guard Tyler Laser, who leads the team with 14.8 points per game and 20 3-pointers made. EIU is shooting 44.8 percent on the season while holding its opponents to just 39.1 percent from the field.

Eastern Illinois and Tennessee Tech will meet for the 30th time on Monday night with Tech holding a 19-10 series lead. The Golden Eagles split the season series with EIU last year with each team winning on its home court. EIU won 75-58 in Lantz Arena while falling 67-60 at the Eblen Center. Tech has won nine of the last eleven meetings between the two schools.

Both teams enter the game coming off of wins. EIU held on to win a tough defensive contest over Jacksonville State on Saturday night, while Tech improved to 1-1 in the league with a Saturday night win at Southeast Missouri.

Tech will return home for a pair of OVC contests later in the week when Morehead State visits Eblen Center on Jan. 7 and Eastern Kentucky visits Cookeville on Jan. 9.
