COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Now that television schedules have been determined, Tennessee Tech has announced the starting times for its men’s and women’s basketball games for 2009-2010.

The Tech men’s team will appear on television six times during the regular season, including a national appearance on ESPNU at UT Martin in January. The women’s team has five TV games slated.

In general, Tech’s home games have standard starting times throughout the year. For most doubleheaders, the women’s games begin at 5:30 p.m. and the men’s game starts at 7:30 p.m.
The starting times are different for two weekend doubleheaders in December.

For single home games, most of the home contests will tipoff at 7 p.m. One major exception is the women’s game against Lipscomb on Monday, Nov. 30, which starts at 8 p.m. following the popular Cookeville Christmas Parade.

Tech hosts two Saturday doubleheaders in December, including one that has moved from different dates.

On Saturday, Dec. 12, the men’s team opens the day with a 2 p.m. game against Ball State. The women’s game follows at 4 p.m. against Southern Illinois.

As a special feature of the day, the women’s program will be recognized at halftime of the first game for becoming just the seventh program nationally to achieve 800 victories.

The following weekend, Tech hosts a Saturday evening twinbill in Eblen Center. The women open the day with a 6 p.m. contest against Belmont, followed by the men at 8 p.m. against Bryan College. The men’s game was originally announced for Dec. 10, and the women’s game was originally set for Dec. 20.

There is one additional change to the original men’s schedule as it was announced last month; Tech’s game at Lipscomb University has been moved ahead one month, and will be played in Nashville on Thursday, Nov. 19. It was first scheduled for Dec. 19.

WCTE TV will televise five home doubleheaders in Eblen Center. The WCTE schedule includes games Jan. 7 against Morehead State, Jan. 21 against Austin Peay, Jan. 23 against Tennessee State, Feb. 11 against Murray State, and Feb. 13 against UT Martin.

The men’s game at UT Martin on Saturday, Jan. 14, will begin at 8 p.m. on ESPNU.

Both teams got the season underway last Thursday by hosting exhibition games. The women defeated Tennessee Wesleyan, 97-51, while the Tech men topped Bluefield, 85-78.

The regular season starts for both teams on Friday (Nov. 13). The women play Alabama in a tournament in Corpus Christi, Texas, with a 5 p.m. start time. The men get the year underway with a 7 p.m. game at the University of Minnesota.

Season tickets are on sale at the Athletics Ticket Office in Eblen Center, or by calling (931) 372-3940. Tickets may also be purchased online at TTUsports.com.
