CEDAR CITY, Utah – The Tennessee Tech men’s basketball team will be looking for its third road win of the young season Wednesday night when it battles Southern Utah at 6 p.m. The Golden Eagles enter the game at 2-3 overall, while the Thunderbirds come in at 3-2.

The two teams will be meeting for the second time in program history. Tech fought its way to a 69-68 win over SUU in Cookeville last year. The game will be Tech’s second in a row against a Summit League opponent, as the Golden Eagles hosted Oakland on Nov.23.

The Golden Eagles are led by sophomore Kevin Murphy who is averaging a team-high 17.6 points and 5.2 rebounds per contest. Senior Elijah Cunningham-Muhammad has a team-best 3.6 assists per game.

Southern Utah has four players averaging double-figure points. Davis Baker leads the way with 13.8, followed by Ryan Brimley (11.3) Matt Massey (11.2) and Jake Nielson (11.2).

The Thunderbirds are 3-2 overall on the season, and enter the contest on a three-game win streak after beating McNeese State, U. of the Southwest and Wayland Baptist. SUU opened the season with losses to Hawaii and Northern Colorado.

The game will be broadcast live on WHUB AM 1400. Fans can also follow live stats at www.suutbirds.com.

Two days after taking on Southern Utah Tech will visit the No. 1 team in the country when it travels to play Kansas. That game will be nationally televised in ESPN Full Court.

After playing Kansas the Golden Eagles will be home for four of their next five games. Tech will host Evansville on Dec. 1 then open up Ohio Valley Conference play with a game at Jacksonville State on Dec. 5. Tech will face Ball State (Dec. 12), Bryan College (Dec. 19) and Union (Dec. 30) at home before hitting full-time OVC action in January.
