JIM CLEMENS, AL LEWIS AND BOBBY PORTER

Three of the Tech men's basketball team's most lethal weapons of the 1970's will be in the house Saturday night for Basketball Alumni Night. Al Lewis, Jim Clemens and Bobby Porter, who all played between 1970 and 1978 and combined to score nearly 3,000 points for the Golden Eagles will be among the many players returning to their home floor.

Al Lewis joined the varsity squad in the 1970-71 season and led the team in scoring with 17.6 points per game while averaging 4.3 rebounds. The sharpshooter hit 49.6 percent of his shots, and 83.4 percent of his free throws during his three-year career. Despite his senior season being cut short, Lewis finished his career with 914 points, and averaged 15.5 points per game for his career.

Jim Clemens began his Golden Eagle career in the 1971-72 season, and played two seasons with Lewis and three overall at Tech. Clemens was a hard worker who increased his averages in scoring, rebounding and free throw percentage in each year as a Golden Eagle. By his senior season Clemons averaged 16.9 points and 3.3 rebounds and led the team with 4.8 assists per game. Clemens scored 707 points in 69 career games as a Golden Eagle.

Bobby Porter played in 100 games as a Golden Eagle in four seasons from 1974-78. Porter pieced together a dominating career, finishing with 1,273 points and 715 rebounds, becoming only the fifth player in Tech history to finish with over 1,200 points and over 700 rebounds. Since porter, only two other players have reached that milestone. Porter led the team in scoring and rebounds in both his junior and senior seasons, averaging over 16 points and eight rebounds per game in that time.

All three players played at least one season under former coach Connie Inman, Tech's head coach from 1969-1975.
